Rahimunnisa (circa 1763-1800) – First Woman poetess of Bengal

Rahimunnisa, may be, is the only woman poet of middle age of Bangla literature. We had no record of woman poet of middle ages until 1957. Littérateur Muhammad Enamul Haque (b. 1906) added a glorious chapter by introducing the life and works of this poetess (Bangla Academy Journal, 1st issue, p. 53). Though, he discovered Rahimunnesa by chance, but it is an outstanding addition.
